The position supports both office and manufacturing areas, making this a varied role where no two days are exactly the same.
Role and Responsibilities:

  • Complete practical maintenance tasks including basic plumbing and other non-specialist repairs.
  • Replace air filters and support routine maintenance within manufacturing areas.
  • Identify maintenance issues and arrange specialist contractors where required.
  • Coordinate contractor and supplier visits for scheduled maintenance.
  • Support servicing, safety inspections and equipment calibration visits.
  • Maintain external grounds, including gardening, tidying and keeping outside areas presentable.
  • Carry out routine site checks and address maintenance issues where appropriate.
  • Support building locking and unlocking when required.
  • Provide occasional call-out cover for staff holidays, which may require early morning or evening attendance.
  • Carry out routine fire alarm testing.
  • Support continuous improvement projects where required.
  • Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, contractors and suppliers.
About You:
  • Previous experience within a facilities, caretaker, maintenance, janitorial, handyman or general trades role.
  • Practical and confident carrying out basic maintenance and repair work.
  • Comfortable working independently and unsupervised.
  • Able to organise and prioritise your own workload effectively.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and professional working environment.
  • Comfortable carrying out a mixture of maintenance, cleaning and grounds work.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to follow written instructions and maintain basic records and documentation.
  • Comfortable using email, websites and basic computer systems.
  • Able to work effectively across both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Must live close enough to the site to attend within approximately 30 minutes when required for call-outs.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or similar commercial environment.
  • Basic plumbing or general trade/maintenance experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Comfortable using basic workshop or manufacturing tools.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Previous experience coordinating contractors or external maintenance providers.
  • PAT Testing, Working at Height or Forklift qualifications would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
