Facilities Team Member
Location: Gillingham, Kent
Pay Rate: £14.31 per hour PAYE (paid weekly via Pertemps)
Contract Type: Temporary Assignment
Duration: 09 August 2026 to 04 October 2026
Working Hours: 09:00 - 17:00, shifts Monday to Sunday (Weekend Availability Required)
Pertemps are currently recruiting for a Facilities Team Member to join a busy and customer-focused accommodation and facilities environment in Gillingham, Kent on a temporary assignment from 09/08/2026 until 04/10/2026.
You will work as part of a dedicated Facilities team, helping to provide a safe, secure, clean, compliant and well-maintained environment. You will be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, ensuring high standards across the site at all times.
This role would suit candidates with experience as a Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Operative, Caretaker, Building Services Operative, Facilities Operative, Property Maintenance Technician, Site Assistant or General Maintenance Operative.
Facilities Team Member Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
- Complete routine building inspections and maintenance checks.
- Respond to maintenance requests and Health & Safety related call-outs within agreed service levels.
- Undertake general building repairs and maintenance work.
- Work with mechanical and electronic locking systems.
- Repair and maintain doors, windows and associated fixtures.
- Assist with fire alarm activations, investigations and false alarm responses.
- Support emergency building repairs and seasonal project work.
- Diagnose faults, carry out repairs and escalate issues where necessary.
- Complete PPM inspections and report any remedial works required.
- Support specialist contractors and competent engineers when required.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company standards, procedures and SLAs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Support sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities to improve environmental performance.
- Ensure all areas remain safe, compliant, secure and fit for purpose.
- Previous experience within Facilities Management, Building Maintenance, Property Maintenance or Site Services.
- Basic joinery and carpentry skills.
- Basic plastering skills, including repairing holes and wall damage.
- Basic domestic plumbing experience.
- Ability to complete like-for-like electrical replacements.
- Understanding of safe isolation procedures and recording completed works.
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to duties and working hours.
- Availability to work shifts between Monday and Sunday, including weekends.
- Experience within student accommodation, residential, hospitality, facilities management, commercial property or housing environments.
- Experience completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Understanding of compliance and building safety requirements.
