We''re recruiting a Facilities Support Assistant to join a busy laboratory environment in Glasgow.

This is a hands-on support role, working across the laboratories to make sure scientists have the equipment, stock and day-to-day facilities support they need to carry out their work.

You''ll be responsible for everything from checking stock levels and ordering consumables through to cleaning and maintaining equipment, monitoring fridge and freezer temperatures and managing laboratory waste.

We''re looking for someone practical, organised and reliable who is comfortable working in a hands-on environment and takes Health & Safety seriously and a candidate with some working, transferrable experience.

The role:

Working closely with the wider Facilities and Operations team, your responsibilities will include:

- Checking stock levels and ordering chemicals, solvents, consumables and other laboratory supplies
- Receiving and managing deliveries across the site
- Cleaning, maintaining and carrying out basic checks on scientific equipment
- Identifying equipment issues and ensuring these are highlighted appropriately
- Monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures and maintaining accurate records
- Managing clinical waste, solvent waste and recycling streams
- Maintaining and restocking safety equipment including eyewash stations, safety showers and spill kits
- Replacing and restocking gas cylinders in line with safety procedures
- Supporting COSHH and wider Health & Safety requirements
- Keeping PAT testing and other facilities records up to date
- Helping ensure the laboratories remain clean, organised, safe and ready for use

What we''re looking for

Previous experience in a laboratory would be useful, but it isn''t essential. We''re open to people from other hands-on support environments, including facilities, warehouse, operations, education or hospitality, where you''ve been responsible for things such as stock, equipment, Health & Safety or keeping a busy working environment organised.

More importantly, you''ll need to be:

- Reliable and comfortable with a practical, hands-on role
- Organised with good attention to detail
- Confident managing stock and keeping accurate records
- Comfortable following Health & Safety procedures
- Able to prioritise different tasks in a busy environment
- Confident using basic IT systems including Outlook, Word and Excel
- A good communicator who is happy working closely with different teams

This could suit someone already working in facilities or operational support who would like to move into a scientific environment. Full training will be provided, with the opportunity to develop your experience within the Facilities team and potentially progress into a Senior Facilities Technician position.
