Job Title: Facilities Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £45,000
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Shift: Day Shift Pattern
Key Facility Engineer Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor industrial boilers throughout each shift
- Complete daily boiler checks covering pressure, temperature, water levels and safety valves
- Carry out chemical dosing and water treatment checks in line with site schedules
- Record all boiler readings accurately in the CMMS every shift
- Respond to boiler alarms and faults as the first responder
- Complete planned PPM on burners, flues, heat exchangers and associated boiler equipment
- Inspect and test safety relief valves and pressure control systems as required
- Maintain the boiler house to a clean, safe and compliant standard always
- Support annual statutory boiler inspections and maintain all required records
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems including AHUs, fan coil units and extract fans
- Complete scheduled filter changes across ventilation and air handling systems
- Maintain compressed air systems including compressors, dryers, receivers and distribution networks
- Monitor compressed air quality and pressure at production points
- Complete planned PPM on refrigeration and cooling systems
- Carry out planned maintenance on extract and LEV systems, including the future kitchen area
- Inspect and service pressure relief valves on compressed air systems
Required Facility Engineer Experience:
Essential Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Proven experience operating and maintaining boilers and associated equipment
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across utilities and facilities
- Strong understanding of boiler safety, water treatment and statutory compliance requirements
- Experience maintaining compressed air systems, including compressors, dryers and receivers
- Experience working with hot and cold-water systems and legionella compliance
- Experience using a CMMS to record readings, maintenance activities and defects
- Experience working safely with Permit to Work and isolation procedures
- Strong understanding of engineering health, safety and environmental requirements
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification
- Experience with ATEX or hazardous-area environments
- Experience within a BRCGS-accredited food manufacturing environment
- IOSH or relevant health & safety qualification
