Fa-ade Consultant
A leading multidisciplinary built environment consultancy is seeking an experienced Fa-ade Consultant to join its London team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Fa-ade Consultant / Clerk of Works with Fa-ade specialism with strong construction-stage experience to work on live cladding remediation and fa-ade projects across London and the wider region.
The successful Fa-ade Consultant will join a highly skilled consultancy team delivering technical, quality assurance and Clerk of Works-style services across residential, mixed-use, student accommodation, university and college schemes, including medium and high-risk buildings.
The Fa-ade Consultant Role
The successful Fa-ade Consultant will work closely with the Head of Fa-ade Consultancy and wider project teams to ensure fa-ade and cladding remediation works are delivered in line with design intent, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
Responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out regular site inspections on live cladding remediation and fa-ade construction projects
- Undertaking Clerk of Works-style inspections to monitor workmanship, materials and installation quality
- Assessing works against drawings, specifications, contract requirements and approved details
- Identifying defects, non-compliance and deviations from design intent
- Preparing clear and accurate site inspection reports and project documentation
- Completing technical and quality assurance audits of fa-ade works
- Reviewing fa-ade design, engineering and construction information
- Responding to RFIs and supporting technical queries during the construction phase
- Assisting with design reviews and the implementation of fa-ade remediation solutions
- Undertaking targeted intrusive inspections, measurements and material sampling where required
- Supporting tender reviews, contractor assessments and due diligence exercises
- Monitoring compliance with relevant fire safety and building safety requirements
- Working collaboratively with project management, cost management and external design teams
- Supporting the resolution of technical issues with contractors, consultants and clients
- Producing high-quality reports, letters, correspondence and technical documentation
- Travelling to project sites across London, England and Wales when required
The Fa-ade Consultant
The successful Fa-ade Consultant will ideally have:
- At least five years'' relevant experience within a consultancy, engineering or built environment environment
- A minimum of three years'' practical experience undertaking site inspections or Clerk of Works duties on fa-ade or cladding projects
- A degree in building, engineering or a related discipline
- Membership or associate membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, IFE, CABE, IFSM, CIBSE or SFE
- Strong technical knowledge of fa-ade systems, cladding and fire safety measures
- Experience assessing, designing or remediating fa-ade systems on medium or high-risk buildings
- Experience reviewing design, engineering and construction documentation
- The ability to undertake technical audits, tender reviews, RFIs and due diligence reviews
- Knowledge of BSR Gateway applications and compliance processes
- A clear understanding of Golden Thread requirements and building safety information management
- Strong knowledge of PAS 9980
- Good knowledge of the Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, CDM Regulations and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order
- Excellent report writing and technical documentation skills
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook
- Experience using CMap, iAuditor, PlanRadar or similar digital reporting platforms
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and make informed technical decisions
- A proactive, self-motivated and collaborative approach
- A commitment to checking the quality and accuracy of their own work
- The ability to manage deadlines across multiple projects
