Job Description We are looking for a skilled and experienced Fabricator/Welder to assist our specialist staircase fabrication client for a two week period starting Wednesday 20th August. The successful candidate will be responsible for welding bespoke metal staircases, balustrades, and structural components to the highest standards, in line with certified welding codes. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and a strong understanding of architectural metalwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Weld and fabricate staircase components including stringers, treads, risers, balustrades, and handrails to coded standards.
- Read and interpret architectural and fabrication drawings to produce accurate, high-quality work.
- Fillet weld with a 6mm leg length
- Ensure all welding meets relevant standards (e.g., EN ISO 9606, BS EN codes) and passes quality inspections.
- Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment, adhering to company H&S procedures.
- Inspect and maintain welding equipment to ensure optimum performance.
- Collaborate with designers, fabricators, and installers to deliver projects on time and to specification.
- Current valid coded welder qualifications (e.g., EN ISO 9606, ASME IX) in relevant positions and processes.
- Proven experience in welding and fabricating bespoke staircases or similar architectural metalwork.
- Strong ability to read and work from detailed fabrication and technical drawings.
- Skilled in producing neat, high-quality welds with minimal finishing required.
- Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Understanding of load-bearing structures and the structural integrity of welded components.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
