Fabricator / Welder

  • Location: Saxmundham, East Suffolk (own transport required)
  • Salary: Up to -37,570 PA (Depending on Experience)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week
  • Working hours options: 07:30-16:30

We''re recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-run engineering business specialising in high-quality fabrication, bespoke metalwork, and engineered solutions for the agricultural sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a skilled Fabricator / Welder to their team.

Role Summary:

This is a hands-on workshop role where you''ll be involved in the full fabrication process; from reading technical drawings through to welding and final assembly. You''ll work on a range of bespoke and batch projects, producing high-quality work to tight specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Fabricate, cut, shape, and assemble metal components
    • Carry out MIG welding (2-10mm) and TIG welding (from 1.2mm stainless steel)
    • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
    • Mechanical fitting and assembly of fabricated components
    • Inspect finished products to ensure quality and accuracy
    • Operate workshop machinery and tools safely
    • Maintain high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping

About You (Essential):

    • Proven experience in fabrication and welding
    • Strong MIG welding experience (TIG advantageous)
    • Ability to read and work from technical drawings
    • Good mechanical fitting skills
    • High attention to detail and quality standards
    • Strong understanding of health & safety
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Own transport due to location

Desirable:

    • Experience within the agricultural or similar industry
    • TIG welding on stainless steel down to approx. 1.2mm
    • Welding/fabrication qualifications (e.g., NVQ or equivalent)
