Fabricator Welder

Role: Contract Fabricator (MIG/TIG Welding)

Location: Derby

Rate: c-20 p/h Ltd Co - outside IR35

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on mild steel, and stainless steel
• Fabricate components by fitting, forming, joining, cutting, marking out, squaring off, and bending metals as required.
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical documents, ensuring work meets specifications.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and adhere to safety standards and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Conduct quality checks on fabricated and welded items to deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in MIG welding on mild steel.
• Experience with TIG welding on stainless steel and ideally aluminium.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Background in manufacturing/engineering environments.
• Good understanding of fabrication safety procedures and quality standards.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience with other fabrication machinery (guillotines, rollers).
• Ideally proficient in press brake operation and general fabrication equipment
• Knowledge of coded welding to insurance standards (e.g., BS5500/BS EN 286).
• Basic machinery maintenance skills.
• Flexible approach to work, including shift patterns and overtime.
• Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

Educational Requirements

• Time-served apprenticeship or recognised qualification in fabrication and welding (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ L2).
