Role: Contract Fabricator (MIG/TIG Welding)
Location: Derby
Rate: c-20 p/h Ltd Co - outside IR35
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on mild steel, and stainless steel
- Fabricate components by fitting, forming, joining, cutting, marking out, squaring off, and bending metals as required.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical documents, ensuring work meets specifications.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and adhere to safety standards and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Conduct quality checks on fabricated and welded items to deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in MIG welding on mild steel.
- Experience with TIG welding on stainless steel and ideally aluminium.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Background in manufacturing/engineering environments.
- Good understanding of fabrication safety procedures and quality standards.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with other fabrication machinery (guillotines, rollers).
- Ideally proficient in press brake operation and general fabrication equipment
- Knowledge of coded welding to insurance standards (e.g., BS5500/BS EN 286).
- Basic machinery maintenance skills.
- Flexible approach to work, including shift patterns and overtime.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
Educational Requirements
- Time-served apprenticeship or recognised qualification in fabrication and welding (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ L2).
