Our client is a well-established and highly respected structural steel fabrication and construction business, supplying and erecting fabricated steelwork across the UK and Ireland. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Fabrication Foreman to support the Workshop Manager with the day-to-day running of the fabrication department.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fabricator, Welder, Plater or Fabrication Supervisor looking to progress into a Foreman position within an established and growing business.

Fabrication Foreman - Position Overview

• Support the Workshop Manager with the day-to-day running and coordination of the fabrication department.
• Supervise fabrication activities, ensuring production targets, quality standards and customer requirements are achieved.
• Allocate work across the fabrication team and ensure labour and resources are used effectively.
• Monitor production progress and ensure work is completed in line with agreed programmes and deadlines.
• Ensure fabricated steelwork is produced in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Provide guidance and support to workshop personnel, including less experienced members of the team and apprentices.
• Assist with shift changeovers, ensuring materials, documentation and instructions are in place for ongoing production.
• Identify and resolve production and quality issues, escalating concerns where required.
• Assist with the management of resources within the paint shop and liaise with relevant personnel regarding plant and labour requirements.
• Maintain accurate production records, traceability and client documentation, assisting with regular audits where required.
• Ensure workshop activities are carried out in accordance with company health and safety procedures, including inductions, risk assessments and daily equipment checks.
• Work closely with the Workshop Manager and wider management team to improve workshop efficiency, productivity and manufacturing processes.

Fabrication Foreman - Position Requirements

• Previous experience within structural steel fabrication or a similar workshop environment.
• Strong background in fabrication, welding, plating or structural steelwork.
• Previous supervisory, team leader or foreman experience would be advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Good understanding of fabrication processes, quality standards and workshop operations.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to plan and manage labour effectively and work to tight production deadlines.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Conscientious, reliable and hardworking approach.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider workshop team.
