Brief
Fabric Engineer needed for a large, well-known Facilties Management organisation based in Birmingham who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Fabric Engineer that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of complex fabric systems including; fire doors, passive fire protection, drainage systems, cladding and roof systems, general joinery repairs.
The successful candidate would desirably have a relevant qualification, i.e. Recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level etc. and have a keen interest in Fabric Engineering. If you have commercial experience in a healthcare setting that would be a plus!

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Fabric Engineer will include:
- Undertaking fabric works across both estates
- Work on complex fabric systems including but not limited to; fire doors, passive fire protection, drainage systems, cladding and roof systems, general joinery repairs
- Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex fabric systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
- Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as confined spaces, working at height and other suitable areas
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training.
What experience you need to be the successful Fabric Engineer:
- Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level
- Good knowledge and understanding of a range of complex fabric systems including but not limited to fire doors, passive fire protection, drainage systems, cladding and roof systems, general joinery repairs
- Previously worked within a healthcare maintenance environment (Desirable)
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
