EYFS Teaching Assistant – Nursery / Reception – Barnet

Location: Barnet, North London
Pay: £93–£105 per day, depending on qualifications and experience
Contract: Full-time, long-term, temporary
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, term time only
Start date: October 2026 or immediately, subject to availability and checks

About the role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher in Nursery or Reception, supporting individuals and small groups. This active, varied role involves encouraging curiosity, communication and independence through play-based learning.

Your responsibilities

• Support early literacy, phonics, numeracy and communication activities.
• Create engaging indoor and outdoor continuous provision.
• Encourage friendships, sharing, turn-taking and independence.
• Adapt support to different developmental needs, including emerging SEND and speech and language needs.
• Assist with routines, transitions, classroom resources and personal care where required.

What we’re looking for

The successful EYFS Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience in Nursery, Reception or another Early Years setting.
• A sound understanding of EYFS and learning through play.
• A warm, proactive approach and strong teamwork skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.

This EYFS Teaching Assistant role would suit Nursery nurses, Reception TAs and childcare-qualified candidates. A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification is desirable.

Applicants must be UK-based with the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is unavailable.
