Chase Taylor Recruitment are working on behalf of a leading manufacturer within the uPVC building products sector who are looking to recruit an experienced Extrusion Machine Setter / Operator to join their production team in Great Barr, Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing professional with machine setting or extrusion experience to join a well-established and growing business. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring machinery operates efficiently, production targets are achieved, and quality standards are consistently maintained.

The Role

As an Extrusion Machine Setter / Operator, you will be responsible for setting, operating, monitoring, and maintaining uPVC extrusion machinery, ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with production, quality, maintenance, and warehouse teams, you will take ownership of machine performance, product quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, change over, and optimise extrusion machinery and tooling in line with production schedules.
• Select and prepare the correct tooling, materials, and equipment for production runs.
• Monitor machine performance, output rates, and product consistency.
• Make real-time adjustments to machine settings to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality.
• Ensure production targets are achieved while minimising waste, scrap, and downtime.
• Carry out dimensional and visual quality checks throughout production.
• Complete all production, quality, and downtime documentation accurately.
• Diagnose and resolve machine, tooling, and process issues.
• Carry out routine adjustments and basic preventative maintenance.
• Support maintenance engineers during breakdowns and planned maintenance activities.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Support and train colleagues, new starters, and production operatives when required.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience as a Machine Setter, Machine Operator, Extrusion Setter, Extrusion Operator, or similar manufacturing role.
• Experience within uPVC extrusion manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of machine setting, tooling, extrusion processes, and process control.
• Ability to identify faults and implement corrective actions.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of machine performance.
• Basic IT, literacy, and numeracy skills.
• Positive, proactive, and reliable approach to work.
