Export Packer
The role will see you constructing packing cases with correct bracing and internal supports, in compliance with relevant industry standards.
What You''ll Be Doing
- Package all equipment to withstand typical handling, lifting, shipping, and storage conditions.
- Strap and stretch-wrap goods to prevent ingress of moisture and dirt.
- Apply foam lining, bubble wrap, and foil bagging where required to provide moisture protection during transit.
- Secure machines to bases using brackets and appropriate locking mechanisms as necessary.
- Ensure all crates and equipment are clearly marked with accurate dimensions, weight, and "this way up" indicators.
- Mark lifting points on cases in accordance with industry best practices and customer requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised work environment in line with 5S housekeeping standards.
- Actively participate in safety reporting and near-miss logging to support a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate effectively with the team to support packing workflow and meet dispatch deadlines, in line with lean manufacturing principles and elimination of the seven wastes.
- Support production teams with pre-installation tasks, including basic assembly and large-scale component builds.
- The Pre-Installation and Packing Department is maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient condition at all times.
- Accurate, complete, and professionally presented packing/crating lists and records (Excel spreadsheet skills are advantageous).
- All packaging and crating complies with industry and company specifications.
What You''ll Need
- Experience in export packing, case-making, joinery, or related fields.
- Valid OHG Crane and Forklift Truck (FLT) licenses (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong understanding of compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Proactive, solution-focused attitude with a willingness to learn and improve.
- Basic IT proficiency, particularly in using Excel for data entry and record-keeping.
- Previous experience in general labouring tasks and working within a production environment.
- Competent in basic mechanical assembly using hand tools.
- Skilled and safe use of power tools.
