Expert Witness Surveyor – Cornwall

Our client, a well-established and highly respected property consultancy based in Cornwall, is seeking an experienced Expert Witness Surveyor to join their growing team.

This is a unique opportunity to become part of a specialist practice with an excellent reputation for delivering independent expert witness services across a broad range of residential and commercial property matters. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team, providing impartial, evidence-based advice for legal proceedings, arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution.

The Role You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing independent Expert Witness reports in accordance with Civil Procedure Rules (CPR Part 35).
  • Undertaking property inspections and detailed technical investigations.
  • Analysing construction defects, boundary disputes, valuation matters, and other property-related issues.
  • Providing clear, impartial opinions supported by robust evidence.
  • Liaising with solicitors, barristers, insurers, and private clients.
  • Attending meetings, mediations, tribunals, and court proceedings where required.
  • Managing your own caseload while maintaining the highest professional standards.
About You To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
  • MRICS, FRICS, MCIOB, or an equivalent professionally recognised qualification.
  • Significant experience within Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Valuation, or a related property discipline.
  • Previous Expert Witness experience is highly desirable, although candidates with extensive dispute resolution or forensic surveying experience looking to move into Expert Witness work will also be considered.
  • A thorough understanding of CPR Part 35 and the responsibilities of an Expert Witness is advantageous.
  • Excellent report writing and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the confidence to present technical evidence clearly and objectively.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex instructions.
  • A full UK driving licence.
