Supporting Learning
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce teacher-led lessons.
Adapt materials for pupils with special educational needs (SEN), such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or learning difficulties.
Help pupils stay on task and engaged.
Personalised SEN Support
Implement strategies from Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs, or sensory/physical impairments.
Provide behaviour support where needed.
Pastoral Role
Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils.
Be a mentor or role model, especially valuable as a male presence for some boys who may lack positive male role models.
Promote confidence, resilience, and social skills.
In-Class Support
Assist the teacher with managing classroom behaviour.
Provide scaffolding (breaking down tasks into smaller steps).
Encourage participation from quieter or more anxious pupils.
Beyond the Classroom
Support pupils during transitions between lessons, break times, or trips.
Run or help with interventions (e.g., literacy/numeracy support, social skills groups).
Communicate with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and parents.
