Experienced Cover Supervisor
Experienced Cover Supervisor
Secure your September work with an agency that understands the difference between simply filling a booking and finding the right school for you.
Local Education is recruiting experienced Cover Supervisors, unqualified teachers and classroom practitioners for daily and long-term opportunities across South Essex from September.
Our GCA-approved supplier status is supporting new relationships with schools and academy trusts, while our established local network continues to generate repeat requirements.
We are therefore looking for dependable Cover Supervisors who can step confidently into secondary classrooms and who want an agency to understand their strengths, travel preferences and longer-term goals.
The role
As an experienced Cover Supervisor, you will supervise lessons during teacher absence, deliver pre-set work and maintain the standards expected by the school.
Assignments may range from flexible day-to-day cover to subject-based placements, maternity cover, intervention work and longer-term positions that can lead to direct employment.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Supervising Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 lessons
- Delivering clear instructions and maintaining pupil engagement
- Applying behaviour policies consistently
- Supporting pupils with the work provided
- Recording incidents, progress and relevant information
- Working professionally with departments, cover teams and pastoral staff
- Adapting quickly to different school environments
Why experienced candidates choose Local Education
We are an independent Essex-based agency, which means decisions are made locally and communication remains personal. We combine this with the compliance standards and school access associated with being a GCA-approved supplier.
Our service includes:
- A detailed conversation about the schools and roles that suit you
- Access to daily, long-term and potential permanent opportunities
- In-house safeguarding and behaviour support
- School-specific induction before selected placements where available
- Clear booking information and practical school guidance
- Weekly PAYE pay with transparent payslip information
- Regular communication without pressure to accept unsuitable work
- Support progressing into unqualified teaching, teacher training or permanent school roles where appropriate
Our school-specific induction approach is designed to reduce the uncertainty of entering a new setting.
Where a school has shared its procedures, we can brief you on behaviour expectations, safeguarding, daily routines and other practical information before arrival. This allows you to focus on the pupils and the lesson rather than spending the first morning trying to understand basic systems.
We would like to hear from candidates with experience as a:
- Cover Supervisor
- Unqualified Teacher
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant
- Learning Mentor
- Behaviour Mentor
- Sports Coach with classroom experience
- Teaching Assistant who has led classes
- Qualified Teacher seeking flexible cover work
You should be confident managing whole classes, reliable at short notice and committed to safeguarding. All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS, satisfactory references, right-to-work checks and the relevant Local Education compliance process.
Whether you want consistent days each week, a long-term placement from September or flexibility around other commitments, we will have an honest conversation about what is realistic and work to find the right match.
Apply through CV-Library today to discuss September availability and the growing range of Cover Supervisor opportunities available through Local Education.
