Evaluation Specialist: Senior Consultant / Principal ConsultantSteer Economic Development is seeking an evaluation specialist to join our team of high-performing economic development consultants. You will work on a range of projects for national, regional and local public sector clients, including process and impact evaluations, evaluation plans and evaluation scoping studies. Your skillset will include quantitative and qualitative research techniques, familiarity with theory-based methods and counterfactual design. You will be well versed in HM Treasury Magenta Book and Green Book best practice, and ideally will have experience evaluating policy interventions in areas such as business support, innovation, Net Zero and/or regeneration.

A typical day will involve
Primary research such as interviewing business leaders, analysing client-owned or public data, creating maps/data visualisations, or designing surveys
Engaging with clients to discuss project methodologies, findings, and next steps
Project management and coordination of project teams with support from colleagues and experts
Writing high-quality reports that are suitable for publication
Business development including preparation of proposals with clear approaches
Developing staff and mentoring junior team members
Developing your own skills through our LandD programs, networking, and mentorship
Requirements
Experience working on process and impact evaluation, ideally in one or more of the following areas: net zero, innovation and enterprise, regeneration and housing, transport, strategic infrastructure or skills
5+ years'' experience, ideally in the public sector, consulting, or relevant private sector experience
A degree (2:1 or higher), preferably in Economics or a social science
Ideally relevant professional membership
