EV Infrastructure & Asset Protection Officer
Our client, a London Borough, is currently looking for an EV Infrastructure & Asset Protection Officer to join their highways team on a contract basis. The role will support the delivery of electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the public highway, while also dealing with highway encroachments, asset protection and compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
·Manage and assess applications for pavement-based EV charging infrastructure, including cross-pavement charging channels, cable gullies and through-pavement solutions
·Review applications against relevant council policies, technical requirements and approval criteria
·Assist with developing and refining processes for the assessment and approval of EV charging installations
·Work closely with contractors to coordinate the delivery and installation of approved charging infrastructure
·Support the development of alternative EV charging solutions, including car park charging facilities and lamp column charging
·Investigate unauthorised highway encroachments and other breaches affecting the public highway
·Undertake appropriate enforcement action and work with relevant parties to ensure compliance
·Liaise with residents, contractors and internal council departments regarding applications, installations and enforcement matters
·Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to applications, investigations and enforcement activity
Job Requirements:
·Experience working within EV infrastructure, electric vehicle charging or a highways-related environment
·Understanding of pavement-based EV charging solutions and their installation within the public highway
·Knowledge of highway regulations, asset protection and public realm compliance
·Experience assessing applications against technical, policy or regulatory requirements
·Previous experience investigating breaches, carrying out enforcement or securing compliance
·Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple applications and cases simultaneously
·Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
·Ability to work effectively with residents, contractors and local authority teams
Previous experience within EV infrastructure, highways or asset protection is essential for this position.
