Job Title: Cost Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

Job Type: Full-Time/Permanent Position

Salary: Up to £65,000/annum

Location: Tavistock, Devon

Our client is a progressive construction firm with a solid industry presence, currently looking to expand their team with a talented Cost Estimator / Quantity Surveyor. If you bring precision, industry knowledge, and a proactive approach to construction planning, we’d like to connect with you.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing precise cost estimates and tender submissions across a range of construction projects. You’ll collaborate with various teams to interpret project requirements, determine resource needs, and forecast project expenses, playing a key role in both securing contracts and ensuring budget adherence.

Key Duties:

• Compile comprehensive cost estimates for upcoming construction work

• Calculate required materials, labour, and timeframes

• Review drawings, technical specifications, and contractual documents

• Liaise with project leads, technical teams, and subcontractors

• Maintain up-to-date cost databases and pricing benchmarks

• Ensure bid documentation is timely, complete, and competitive

• Monitor market trends and regulatory developments impacting costing

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a relevant discipline

• At least two years of relevant experience in estimating or cost planning

• Solid grasp of building processes, construction materials, and pricing structures

• Skilled in software such as Causeway, Microsoft Project, and MS Office Suite

• Strong numerical, organisational, and interpersonal skills

• Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced setting
