Estimator (Roofing & Cladding)

Location: Office-based (Full-Time)
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 (depending on experience)

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Estimator to join their team. This role requires a strong background in roofing and cladding, with a proven ability to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for building envelope projects. You will play a key role in securing new business and supporting project success from tender stage through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for roofing and cladding projects
• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to assess project requirements
• Carry out material take-offs and pricing exercises
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
• Analyse project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
• Collaborate with internal teams including design, commercial, and operations
• Attend pre- and post-tender meetings as required
• Maintain and update cost databases and pricing tools
• Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and within deadlines

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Estimator within roofing and cladding (essential)
• Strong knowledge of building envelope systems, materials, and installation methods
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office
• Effective communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines

Desirable Skills

• Experience with metal roofing and façade systems
• Knowledge of contract forms (e.g. JCT)
• Familiarity with value engineering and cost planning
• Understanding of project delivery and construction processes
