Estimator - Groundworks and Reinforced Concrete

Bennett & Game are pleased to represent an established specialist contractor seeking an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team in Barnsley.

The company delivers groundworks and reinforced concrete structures packages across the building and civil engineering sectors, with projects typically valued between -5 million and -30 million.

With a strong pipeline of secured projects and frameworks, this is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator with relevant sector experience to join a stable and growing contractor offering long-term career development.

• Prepare accurate and competitive tenders from construction drawings, specifications and Bills of Quantities
• Produce detailed rates from first principles
• Measure and take off quantities from construction drawings
• Manage multiple tenders simultaneously at different stages
• Lead target price reviews and tender review meetings
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
• Liaise with clients, consultants and design teams to obtain additional information
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering solutions
• Attend pre-contract and post-contract meetings
• Provide commercial insight throughout the tender process
• Present tender information and recommendations to senior management
• Complete detailed handovers of successful tenders to the construction delivery team

• At least three years'' estimating experience within groundworks and/or reinforced concrete structures
• Previous experience preparing tenders from first principles
• Demonstrable experience tendering for construction or civil engineering packages
• Experience working on projects valued up to approximately -30 million
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and technology
• Confident measuring quantities and interpreting technical drawings
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Ability to manage several tenders and competing deadlines
• Proactive, organised and capable of working independently
• Based within a commutable distance of Barnsley

• Salary of -40,00060,000, depending on experience
