COMPANY OVERVIEW
Our client is a large M & E company in the UK, with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Warrington, Bristol and London. This allows them to successfully support nationwide contracts and the needs of their clients.
Due to their on-going success and joining a M & E Investment Group in 2024, they are now recruiting for an experienced Estimator, covering the UK, who is keen to progress their career.
JOB PURPOSE
- Produce accurate and high-quality tender bids in line with the commercial governance process
- Support, maintain, develop, and build the estimating department in collaboration with procurement
- Act as the lead for the mechanical element of the estimating function
- Identify potential opportunities to increase revenue and margin, and pass leads through to the sales function
- Support the wider business as needed
- Take responsibility for the production of detailed tender bids, attend tender meetings, and conduct post-tender handover meetings to support my client’s growth and development plans
What you’ll be doing…
- Analyse tender specifications, schedules, and drawings to ensure sufficient information is available for accurate pricing
- Issue enquiries to suppliers and sub-contractors and evaluate returned quotations
- Take off material quantities and apply relevant labour values
- Provide core costs and highlight any challenges or risks prior to submission
- Prepare tender submissions in the required format and within set deadlines
- Attend post-tender client meetings
- Prepare internal handover documents and participate in handover meetings
- Maintain and update supplier and subcontractor registers
- Build and sustain positive client relationships
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Proven experience in estimating from a mechanical or electrical background
- Solid background within the electrical services sector and understanding of contracting
- Tendered and secured mechanical bids up to the value of 2m.
- Design experience (desirable).
- IT proficient - all key Office products, including Excel and estimation software to at least intermediate level
- Comfortable working with and producing schedules of rates
- Proven negotiation and communication skills at various levels from subcontractor through to client
- High numeracy levels
- Must have sound knowledge of all electrical systems and Commercial awareness
- Installers background (desirable).

SALARY & BENEFITS
£30K - £40K (DOE)
37.5hrs per week. Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
