We are currently working with a well-established Social Housing contractor based in South London who is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business and play a key role in securing and delivering competitively priced tenders within the social housing sector.

The Role

As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, commercially sound cost estimates across a range of social housing projects. You will work closely with internal departments, suppliers, and clients to ensure submissions are competitive, technically detailed, and delivered within strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates
• Produce detailed tender build-ups and pricing submissions
• Carry out take-offs and prepare Bills of Quantities
• Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
• Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options within tenders
• Monitor labour, plant, and material costs to ensure up-to-date pricing
• Support the handover from pre-construction to delivery teams
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners

Requirements

• Minimum five years'' experience within the construction industry
• Proven experience within the social housing sector is essential
• Strong knowledge of JCT and ACA forms of contract
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and complete accurate take-offs
• Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
• Experience using estimating software or willingness to learn
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines
• Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related field are desirable
