Estimator – Fit out / refurbishment contractor, Milton Keynes. (Assistant or intermediate level)

A successful and fast growing growing construction company in Milton Keynes is looking for an Estimator with commercial fit-out/refurbishment experience to join their team.

You'll play a vital role in winning work through accurate and competitive tenders, while ensuring risks are identified and margins are protected. This is a key commercial role that interacts closely with project management and directors.

About the Role:

As a commercially savvy Estimator, you will tender for works ranging from £10k-1m within the commercial sector. (If you are assistant level, you will be assisting with schemes)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for fit-out and refurbishment projects
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and project information to produce accurate cost plans
• Identify and assess project risks and value engineering opportunities
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for quotations and pricing
• Participate in client meetings, pre-construction planning, and value engineering exercises
• Maintain a database of rates, costs, and supplier contacts
• Work closely with the Director and wider team to develop commercially competitive bids
• Support handover to the delivery team post-tender
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, procurement policies, and contractual obligations

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record as an Estimator within commercial fit-out or refurbishment (assistant or intermediate level)
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial skills
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing
• Experience working with budgets up to £1M+
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, or Excel-based systems)
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
