Estimator

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Have a proactive approach to the role. To receive and interpret architectural drawings in terms of supplying standard or bespoke doors and/or doorsets to the industry. To transfer the information from the drawings into Excel spreadsheets, providing comprehensive pricing structures and delivery schedules to both internal and external customers.
CONTRACTED HOURS: 39.5 Hours per week.
[Monday – Thursday 08:00-17:00. Friday 08:00-16:30].
SALARY: £30,000-£35,000 Depending on Experience
ENVIRONMENT: Demanding rapid response Manufacturing & distribution unit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Analyse specs & tenders to prepare costings
- Produce detailed formal estimates & production schedules.
- Learn and aid on the administrative process of sales and estimating.
- Analyse customer enquiries, ensuring prompt and accurate quote generation.
- Work closely with the sales and project teams
- Interpret architectural drawings to create schedules from various architectural drawings.
- Prove pricing schedules.
- Check detail against fire/acoustic test evidence, structural opening sizes, etc.
- Use strong communication skills to liaise with customers regularly in an efficient and professional manor relaying information across planning, sales & purchasing.
- Regularly liasise with customers regarding delivery dates, quotations and to discuss requirement for enquiries.
- Ensure all documents are received on time, chasing work internally within the group to ensure deadlines are met.
- Be pragmatic, work with external sales representatives to chase / expedite your previous week’s quotes to achieve an order.
- Create specifications for products.
- General administration and updating electronic and paper based files.
- Adhoc admin tasks to support the office and team.
- Comply with the Health and Safety responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Previous experience in a similar customer-facing role would be essential
An understanding of manufacturing and estimation process is desirable
Experience working with architectural drawings is desirable.
Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Strong attention to detail & numeracy
Excellent Communication skills
A minimum of 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including Maths and English.
