Estimator – Civil Engineering / Infrastructure

We are currently supporting a growing civil engineering, infrastructure and energy contractor in their search for an Intermediate Estimator to join their team based in Uxbridge.

With a strong pipeline of upcoming projects across civil engineering, infrastructure and energy sectors, the business is now looking to bring estimating capability in-house, rather than continuing to outsource to external contractors. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and expanding pre-construction team, playing a key role in preparing competitive tenders and helping shape the company’s future project portfolio.

This role would ideally suit someone with 2–3 years’ estimating experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or energy projects, although more senior candidates will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing cost estimates for civil engineering, infrastructure and energy projects
• Producing bottom-up estimates and detailed cost build-ups
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Producing cost breakdowns and supporting competitive tender submissions
• Supporting bid preparation and pre-construction activities
• Working closely with commercial, engineering and operational teams
• Supporting the development of an in-house estimating function

Experience Required

• 2–3 years’ estimating experience within civil engineering, construction, infrastructure or energy projects
• Experience preparing bottom-up estimates and detailed cost build-ups
• Exposure to bid preparation and pre-construction processes
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Strong understanding of construction methods and project costing
• Preferable knowledge of Causeway estimating software
• Ability to support tender submissions and collaborate with estimating and pre-construction teams
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams
