What You Will Do:

As an Estimating Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of projects by creating accurate and commercially viable quotations. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare Detailed Estimates: Develop cost estimates for electrical and switchgear-related projects, covering materials, labour, and overheads.
  • Technical Review: Analyse technical drawings and specifications while interpreting customer requirements.
  • Competitive Quotations: Produce precise and competitive quotations and tender submissions.
  • Cost-Effective Solutions: Identify opportunities to deliver cost-effective strategies for projects.
  • Collaborative Approach: Work closely with sales, engineering, and project management teams for seamless project handovers.
  • Record Maintenance: Keep accurate records of estimates, quotations, and customer interactions.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate project risks and contribute to effective mitigation strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support initiatives aimed at enhancing estimating processes and accuracy.
  • Manage Multiple Projects: Juggle multiple quotations and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Who You Are:

We''re seeking candidates who embody a strong work ethic, excellent numerical skills, and a desire to grow within a thriving engineering company. Whether you''re an experienced Estimator or an Engineer eager to transition into estimating, we want to hear from you!

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous estimating, costing, or engineering experience in a technical environment.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of pricing impacts on business performance.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the electrical, switchgear, or related sectors.
  • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Background in manufacturing or SMEs.
  • Electrical estimating experience for senior candidates.
