An established environmental contractor has secured a major project as part of the redevelopment of the Port Talbot Steelworks and is seeking an experienced Environmental Supervisor to support the delivery of a large-scale programme of environmental and civil engineering works.
The project includes habitat relocation, major earthworks, and associated environmental works across three separate sites. Working closely with the Site Manager and project team, the successful candidate will supervise daily site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with environmental legislation and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day site operations across multiple work areas.
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with Environmental Management Plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Monitor compliance with environmental legislation, project specifications, and health & safety requirements.
- Coordinate site teams, specialist subcontractors, and ecologists to ensure work is delivered to programme.
- Carry out site inspections, environmental monitoring, and quality checks.
- Identify and report environmental risks, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries, and environmental documentation.
- Support toolbox talks, site inductions, and promote best practice across the workforce.
- Liaise with the Site Manager, client representatives, and wider project team to ensure successful project delivery.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within environmental, ecological, or civil engineering projects.
- Experience working alongside ecologists and specialist environmental teams is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of environmental legislation, pollution prevention, and site compliance.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple work activities.
- Valid SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
- Valid First Aid at Work qualification.
- Full UK driving licence.
