We are seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental Advisor to support the delivery of rail and civil engineering projects across our growing portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional who is passionate about sustainability, compliance, and driving environmental best practice within major infrastructure projects.

Working closely with operational teams, clients, and stakeholders, you will provide environmental advice and support throughout project lifecycles, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, contractual requirements, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental guidance and support to project teams across rail and civil engineering projects.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and project-specific environmental requirements.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and environmental monitoring activities.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and support the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Produce environmental reports and maintain project environmental records.
  • Support project teams in achieving sustainability objectives and environmental performance targets.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Deliver environmental awareness training and toolbox talks to site personnel.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Essential

  • Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Ecology, Geography, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in an Environmental Advisor or similar environmental role within infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to undertake site inspections and environmental audits.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working on rail infrastructure projects.
  • If rail experience is not held, strong experience within civil engineering or major infrastructure projects will also be considered.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (IEMA or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Network Rail environmental requirements and standards.

salary: upto -55,000 plus package
