Environmental Health Officer (Food) Location: Newtownabbey Area Pay Rate: £21.65 per hour Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm Duration: Temporary assignment until 31st July 2026 Start Date: ASAP About the Role We are currently recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer (Food) on behalf of our public sector client. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Environmental Health professional to join a busy Environmental Services team, supporting food safety, public health, and regulatory compliance across the borough. The successful candidate will undertake a range of environmental health duties, including inspections, investigations, enforcement activities, and providing professional advice to businesses and members of the public. Key Responsibilities Carry out food safety inspections, audits and risk assessments in accordance with relevant legislation and guidance. Investigate complaints and incidents relating to food safety and public health. Take appropriate enforcement action, including serving statutory notices and preparing prosecution files where required. Assist with investigations relating to food poisoning outbreaks, infectious diseases, product recalls and other public health matters. Provide specialist advice and guidance to businesses, residents and partner organisations. Prepare reports, maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with information governance requirements.
