Pertemps are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading independent healthcare provider for an Entry-Level Ophthalmic Technician to join their growing clinical team across their Solihull and Olton sites.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with outstanding customer service or patient care skills who enjoys working with technology, diagnostics and people. No previous ophthalmic experience is required as full training will be provided.
The Role
As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a key role in supporting consultant-led clinics and ensuring patients receive an exceptional experience throughout their journey.
You will be responsible for welcoming patients, carrying out a range of diagnostic tests, operating specialist equipment and supporting the smooth running of busy clinics.
This role would suit someone who is technically minded, enjoys learning new systems and equipment, and is passionate about delivering excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities

•    Meet and greet patients and provide a professional, welcoming experience
•    Perform a range of diagnostic eye tests following comprehensive training
•    Operate specialist ophthalmic equipment safely and accurately
•    Support consultants and clinicians within busy clinic environments
•    Ensure patient records are updated accurately and efficiently
•    Assist with clinic preparation and patient flow
•    Monitor stock levels and clinical supplies
•    Carry out routine equipment checks and testing
•    Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health and safety, and infection control
•    Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams across both sites
•    Support patients throughout their appointments with empathy, professionalism and care
What We're Looking For
•    Strong customer service or patient-facing experience
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•    Comfortable working with technology and learning new equipment
•    High attention to detail and accuracy
•    Reliable, organised and professional approach
•    Ability to remain calm and reassuring when supporting patients
•    Experience within healthcare, retail optics, pharmacy, hospitality, customer service, laboratories or technical environments would be advantageous but is not essential
Working Hours

The service operates:
•    Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 8:00pm
•    Saturday and Sunday: 8:00am to 4:00pm
Shift patterns include:
•    8:00am to 4:00pm
•    12:00pm to 8:00pm
You will be required to work one full weekend per month, with two days off during the week when this occurs.
