ENGLISH TEACHER - SEMH SCHOOL Wandsworth, London | Full Time | Start: ASAP

About the Role

We are recruiting a passionate and resilient English Teacher on behalf of a specialist SEMH school in Wandsworth. This is an exceptional opportunity for a teacher who understands that for some young people, finding their voice through language and literature can be genuinely life-changing.

You will work in a small, structured environment where every lesson is an opportunity to build confidence, spark curiosity, and support pupils who have often been let down by mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated English lessons suited to the needs of SEMH pupils
  • Use literature, spoken word and creative writing as tools to support emotional expression and development
  • Build consistent, trusted relationships with students who may present with complex emotional and behavioural needs
  • Work collaboratively with SENCOs, pastoral staff and external agencies to support individual pupils
  • Adapt lessons responsively - remaining flexible when pupil needs change day to day
  • Track and assess student progress and contribute to EHCP reviews where required
  • Model positive communication and help pupils develop literacy skills for life beyond school

What We''re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Calm, emotionally intelligent, and resilient under pressure
  • A trauma-informed approach to behaviour and relationships
  • Genuine belief that every young person deserves a quality education
  • Experience in SEMH, PRU, SEN or alternative provision - desirable
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes - desirable
