English Teacher
A well-established secondary school is looking to appoint an enthusiastic classroom practitioner to join its English department for the new academic year. The successful applicant will teach both English Language and English Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping pupils develop confidence in reading, writing, analysis and communication.
The department works collaboratively to share planning, resources and assessment strategies, allowing teachers to focus on delivering engaging lessons that support strong pupil progress. Experience teaching Key Stage 5 is welcomed, although it is not essential for the role.
The school offers a structured curriculum, clear behaviour expectations and supportive leadership, creating an environment where teachers can concentrate on high-quality classroom practice while continuing their own professional development.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging English Language and English Literature lessons.
- Plan, prepare and assess learning across KS3 and KS4.
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities.
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Contribute positively to the wider English department.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate assessment and attendance records.
Person Specification
You will ideally have:
- QTS, preferred.
- Experience teaching English at secondary level.
- Strong subject knowledge across Language and Literature.
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- A commitment to raising pupil achievement.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a department.
