English Teacher – Alternative Provision (September 2026 Start)

Many students have faced barriers to learning and may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, but with the right support and guidance they are capable of achieving exceptional outcomes.

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons that develop literacy skills, build confidence and inspire students to succeed. You will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors and pastoral staff who work together to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
The Role:

  • Teaching English Language and Literature to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students
  • Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons to small classes
  • Supporting students with SEMH needs and barriers to learning
  • Building positive relationships that encourage engagement and achievement
  • Preparing students for GCSE examinations and future pathways
  • Monitoring progress and implementing effective intervention strategies
  • Working closely with pastoral teams and support staff
  • Contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to engage and inspire students who may have become disengaged from education
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
