The Role
A secondary school with sixth form in Birmingham is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their department from September 2026 on a supply basis.
The successful candidate will teach English Language and English Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students' reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills. You will inspire learners through a broad range of literary texts while supporting students in achieving excellent outcomes in both GCSE and A-Level English qualifications.
The role will involve planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Working within a supportive English department, you will contribute to raising attainment while fostering a lifelong appreciation of literature and language.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS or be an ECT
  • Have experience teaching English Language and English Literature across KS3, KS4, and ideally KS5
  • Be confident delivering GCSE and A-Level English content
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Be committed to raising standards and supporting student achievement
  • Have a genuine passion for English and inspiring young people to succeed
