English Teacher – Alternative Provision – Dudley
Are you an enthusiastic English Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can make a genuine difference to young people who have faced barriers to learning? This specialist alternative provision in Dudley is looking for a dedicated English Teacher to join its supportive and committed team.
The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for students who may have struggled within mainstream education. With smaller class sizes and a strong focus on relationships, behaviour and individual progress, teachers have the opportunity to really get to know their students and help them succeed.
As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adapting your teaching to meet the needs of individual learners. You will work closely with pastoral staff and experienced support colleagues to encourage positive behaviour, improve engagement and help students develop the confidence and skills they need for their next steps.
The Role:

  • Teach English to small classes of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Support students who may have SEMH needs and barriers to learning
  • Prepare students for GCSE English where appropriate
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Manage behaviour effectively and consistently
  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching to meet individual needs
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral and support teams
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to engage students who may have become disengaged from education
  • A patient, resilient and positive approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
