The Role
A secondary school in Sandwell is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their department from September 2026 on a supply basis.
The successful candidate will teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. You will inspire learners through a diverse range of texts while helping them build the confidence and knowledge required for success in their GCSE examinations.
The role will involve planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining a positive classroom environment that promotes achievement and engagement. Working alongside a supportive English department, you will contribute to raising standards and fostering a love of literature and language across the school.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification; ECTs are welcome to apply
  • Have experience teaching English Language and Literature at secondary level
  • Be confident delivering lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Be committed to supporting student progress and achievement
  • Have a passion for English and inspiring young people to develop strong literacy skills
