The Role
A secondary school in Sandwell is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their successful English department from September 2026 on a long-term supply basis.
The successful candidate will teach English Language and English Literature across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging and well-planned lessons that develop students' reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. You will inspire students through a diverse range of literary texts while supporting them in achieving strong outcomes in their GCSE English qualifications.
Working as part of a supportive department, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment. You will maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement while encouraging students to develop confidence and a lifelong appreciation of literature and language.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS or be an ECT
  • Have experience teaching English Language and English Literature across KS3 and KS4
  • Be confident delivering GCSE English content
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Be committed to supporting student progress and raising attainment
  • Have a genuine passion for English and inspiring young people to achieve their full potential
