The Role
A secondary school in Telford is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join its successful English department from September 2026 on a supply basis.
The successful candidate will teach English Language and English Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5, delivering engaging and inspiring lessons that develop students' reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. You will encourage learners to explore a diverse range of literary texts while supporting students in achieving success at GCSE and A Level English.
Working as part of a supportive English department, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their full potential. You will maintain high expectations for behaviour and academic achievement while fostering confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation of literature and language.

  • Hold QTS or be an ECT
  • Have experience teaching English Language and English Literature across KS3–KS5
  • Be confident delivering both GCSE and A Level English curricula
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Be committed to supporting student progress and raising attainment
  • Have a genuine passion for English and inspiring young people to achieve their full potential
