Salary: -35,602 - -48,479 per annum (M1 - M6) (London fringe teacher pay scale.)

Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range.

About the Role:

Make a difference from day one as an English Teacher at an independent boarding school in Hertfordshire. Joining an established English department, you will teach Key Stages 3 and 4, maintaining continuity during a colleagues absence.

You will deliver engaging lessons aligned with the departments curriculum, assess progress and build pupils confidence in English language and literature. There is room to bring your own subject expertise and teaching style while working within established routines.

The initial booking is for at least four weeks, with a possible extension. This role suits an experienced English Teacher who can settle in quickly, build positive relationships and keep learning moving.

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

Secondary English teaching experience and secure knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 curriculum.

Availability for at least four weeks of cover.

An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one before starting.

The right to work in the UK and satisfactory references.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4.

Maintain continuity with the departments curriculum.

Assess understanding and adapt teaching to support progress.

Establish clear routines and manage behaviour confidently.

Work closely with colleagues and fulfil day-to-day teaching responsibilities.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Bring enthusiasm for English literature, language and classroom discussion.

Adapt quickly to existing plans and expectations.

Build rapport with pupils through calm, consistent classroom management.

Feel comfortable teaching in an independent boarding school.
