Supply Desk is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Berkhamsted. Job Description:
- Deliver engaging and well-structured English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 teaching opportunities may be available).
- Plan, prepare, and assess studentsandrsquo; work in line with national curriculum standards.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and achievement.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to differentiate learning and meet the needs of all pupils.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and targeted support.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the English department to share best practices and resources.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and extracurricular activities as required.
- Maintain strong classroom management and promote high standards of behaviour and effort.
- Liaise with parents and carers to discuss student progress and strategies for improvement.
- Contribute to the schoolandrsquo;s culture of continuous improvement and high expectations.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be an ECT (Early Career Teacher) with a specialism in English.
- Have experience teaching English at secondary level, with a proven track record of good or outstanding practice (experience preferred but not essential for ECTs).
- Be passionate about English language and literature and able to bring creativity and enthusiasm into the classroom.
- Possess excellent subject knowledge and a strong understanding of curriculum requirements.
- Be able to differentiate effectively to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Be committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners.
- Hold or be willing to obtain a clear DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
- Be proactive, reflective, and open to continuous professional development.
