Are you an English Teacher looking for a role where you can build strong relationships with students and genuinely make a difference?
Remedy Education is currently working with a secondary SEMH school in Leyton that is looking for an enthusiastic and resilient English Teacher to join their team for a September 2026 start.
This is a great opportunity for an English Teacher who enjoys working with young people who may have struggled within mainstream education and benefit from a more personalised and supportive approach.
You will be teaching KS3 and KS4 English, helping students build their confidence, develop their literacy skills and work towards their qualifications.
The Role
As an English Teacher, you will:
- Teach English across KS3 and KS4
- Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons
- Adapt lessons to suit different abilities, needs and learning styles
- Support students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Create a calm, structured and positive classroom environment
- Encourage students who may have lost confidence in their education
- Support students working towards GCSE qualifications
- Monitor progress and contribute to individual learning targets
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and the wider school team
- Use different approaches to keep students engaged and interested in English
The Ideal Candidate
We''re looking for an English Teacher who:
- Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Has strong subject knowledge and experience teaching English at secondary level
- Has good classroom and behaviour management skills
- Is patient, consistent and able to build relationships with challenging students
- Can remain calm and positive in difficult situations
- Is confident adapting their teaching to individual students
- Has a genuine interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs
Experience within an SEMH school, PRU, AP or SEN setting would be an advantage, but mainstream English Teachers with the right attitude and experience will also be considered.
