Secondary English Teacher - SEMH School | Wandsworth | ASAP Start
We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Secondary English Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Wandsworth with an ASAP start. This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate teacher who is committed to supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them re-engage with education through engaging and supportive teaching.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible English lessons to secondary-aged students, many of whom require additional support to access the curriculum. The successful candidate will be confident in adapting teaching strategies, building positive relationships with pupils, and creating a structured learning environment where students feel supported and able to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3-KS4
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH needs
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through supportive classroom management
Work closely with support staff and the wider pastoral team
Monitor student progress and support individual learning goals
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
Experience teaching Secondary English
Previous experience working in an SEMH school is desirable
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
A patient, resilient and proactive approach to teaching
