Engineering Supervisor
Job Title:-Senior Estates Engineer (Mechanical)
Location: Birmingham-
Salary - -45,000 + bonuses-
Hours - Monday/Friday 8-4. 37.5 hours a week.-
About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced engineering professional to support the delivery of a high-quality estates and maintenance service across a large healthcare contract in Birmingham.
This role will support the Technical Services Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance, managing teams, and maintaining critical building services. You will work across multiple sites and play a key role in ensuring facilities remain safe, efficient, and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and deputise for the Technical Services Manager
- Plan and schedule PPM activities in line with statutory requirements and HTMs
- Oversee reactive and planned maintenance across building services
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and statutory legislation
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers to meet service level agreements
- Monitor response times, repair quality, and overall performance
- Assist with budget control, stock management, and financial processes
- Carry out audits and quality checks on completed work
- Ensure safe systems of work and compliance across all activities
- Attend meetings with internal teams and stakeholders
- Assist with condition surveys and lifecycle planning
Team Leadership
- Supervise and manage engineering staff on a day-to-day basis
- Conduct appraisals, performance reviews, and return-to-work interviews
- Manage rota planning, attendance, and resource allocation
- Deliver training sessions and toolbox talks
- Liaise with other departments and managers to ensure service delivery
- Supervise contractors, including RAMS review and site inspections
Technical Duties
- Support maintenance across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fabric systems
- Assist in managing energy efficiency and plant performance
- Maintain accurate records using CAFM systems
- Carry out inspections, audits, and compliance checks
- Support lifecycle and minor works project delivery
- Provide administrative cover when required
Requirements
Essential:
- City & Guilds or equivalent in an engineering discipline
- Experience within a maintenance or estates environment
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- IT literate (Microsoft Office and CAFM systems)
- Ability to manage teams and work independently
