Job Title:-Senior Estates Engineer (Mechanical)
Location: Birmingham-

Salary - -45,000 + bonuses-

Hours - Monday/Friday 8-4. 37.5 hours a week.-

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced engineering professional to support the delivery of a high-quality estates and maintenance service across a large healthcare contract in Birmingham.

This role will support the Technical Services Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance, managing teams, and maintaining critical building services. You will work across multiple sites and play a key role in ensuring facilities remain safe, efficient, and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and deputise for the Technical Services Manager
  • Plan and schedule PPM activities in line with statutory requirements and HTMs
  • Oversee reactive and planned maintenance across building services
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and statutory legislation
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers to meet service level agreements
  • Monitor response times, repair quality, and overall performance
  • Assist with budget control, stock management, and financial processes
  • Carry out audits and quality checks on completed work
  • Ensure safe systems of work and compliance across all activities
  • Attend meetings with internal teams and stakeholders
  • Assist with condition surveys and lifecycle planning

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and manage engineering staff on a day-to-day basis
  • Conduct appraisals, performance reviews, and return-to-work interviews
  • Manage rota planning, attendance, and resource allocation
  • Deliver training sessions and toolbox talks
  • Liaise with other departments and managers to ensure service delivery
  • Supervise contractors, including RAMS review and site inspections

Technical Duties

  • Support maintenance across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fabric systems
  • Assist in managing energy efficiency and plant performance
  • Maintain accurate records using CAFM systems
  • Carry out inspections, audits, and compliance checks
  • Support lifecycle and minor works project delivery
  • Provide administrative cover when required

Requirements

Essential:

  • City & Guilds or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Experience within a maintenance or estates environment
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • IT literate (Microsoft Office and CAFM systems)
  • Ability to manage teams and work independently
