Consortium Professional Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with our valued client to recruit a Engineering Stores Controller to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong stock control and Engineering stores experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.

This plays a crucial role in managing the inventory and supply chain for engineering operations. This position entails overseeing stock control, raising quotes and purchase orders, and maintaining effective communication with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of goods. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to understand their material requirements and ensure that inventory levels are maintained at optimal levels. Additionally, the role includes inspecting received materials, conducting regular stock audits, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards to support efficient engineering processes
 
Key responsibilities

  • Support the relaying of the stores to streamline inventory and enhance accessibility to improve workflow for engineering teams.
  • Receiving and inspecting deliveries, ensuring all incoming items are properly checked for quality and quantity on arrival.
  • Generate quotes, purchase requisitions, and purchase orders with approved suppliers and monitor expected delivery dates to allow efficient incoming goods.
  • Maintain effective communication with the suppliers regarding order status, lead times, and any discrepancies that may arise to ensure uninterrupted supply.
  • Provide a high service level when issuing stock and receiving stock returns from internal departments and tracking stock movement through internal systems.
  • Conduct frequent stock counts to ensure inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies in stock levels to prevent stockouts.
  • Support in achieving key KPI targets within the business as well as initiating cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards with safety in mind at all times.
  • Support and engage in future projects collaboratively with the wider teams.
  • Kit Building for engineering project work when required.

Experience
  • Previous experience in inventory management or stores control, preferably within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • familiarity with purchasing processes and supplier management
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as a team.
  • Experience in resolving discrepancies in stock levels and addressing supplier-related issues proactively when necessary.
  • Previous experience with stores systems and computer competency is essential.
