Job Title: Engineering Shift Manager. (Electrically Biased).Salary: £59,960 + benefits.Shift: 4 on 4 off, rotating days and nights. (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off etc).Reporting to: Engineering Maintenance Manager.My client has a new opportunity for an experienced Engineering Shift Manager within their Engineering Team. They are looking for a proactive and hands-on individual to join the team.The Engineering Shift Manager will play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly by supporting the Engineering Maintenance Manager with the day-to-day running of the Engineering Department. You’ll be the link between engineering and production, ensuring work schedules are met, resources are maximised, and maintenance activities drive plant efficiency. My client is a leading speciality bakery manufacturer. They constantly raise quality and efficiency standards, and build long-term relationships with major multiple retailers and the foodservice channel. You will work closely with the Manufacturing Shift Leads to identify and resolve engineering issues, ensuring the smooth running of operations and maximising plant efficiency.Responsibilities
Set and manage engineering work schedules; drive continuous improvement across the department.Provide hands-on technical support to Shift Engineers, motivating, coaching, and developing skills; identify training needs.Manage staff performance, including absence, disciplinary matters, and grievances where necessary.Supervise contractors on site; ensure adherence to agreed practices to maintain health and safety standards and technical integrity.Involve in repair and project work; ensure necessary parts and resources are available to complete tasks within agreed timeframes.Manage projects from start to finish, including overseeing contractors and running weekend shutdowns.Participate in daily engineering and production meetings to share updates, gather information, and address issues.Support the Hygiene team in achieving site pest control standards and ensure adherence to food safety policies and procedures.Regularly audit completed work to confirm it meets required standards; contribute to the development and implementation of the department’s Health and Safety plan; maintain accurate records and audits.Deputise for the Engineering Manager in their absence and carry out any other duties as required.Qualifications / Ideal Candidate
Recognised engineering qualification.Demonstrated organisational competence.Strong problem-solving skills.Ability to motivate and encourage others as well as self.Experience actively using CMMS to allocate PPMs and work orders to shift teams; ensure work orders are completed on schedule with detailed records.People management skills.Excellent communication ..... full job details .....
