My client has a new opportunity for an experienced Engineering Shift Manager within their Engineering Team. They are looking for a proactive and hands-on individual to join the team. The Engineering Shift Manager will play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly by supporting the Engineering Maintenance Manager with the day-to-day running of the Engineering Department. You’ll be the link between engineering and production, ensuring work schedules are met, resources are maximised, and maintenance activities drive plant efficiency. You will work closely with the Manufacturing Shift Leads to identify and resolve engineering issues, ensure the smooth running of operations and maximise plant efficiency.My client is a leading speciality bakery manufacturer. They constantly raise quality and efficiency standards, and build long-term relationships with major multiple retailers and the foodservice channel. This role includes managing projects, supervising staff and contractors, and supporting food safety and hygiene standards on site.Responsibilities
Support the Engineering Maintenance Manager with the day-to-day running of the Engineering Department; act as the link between engineering and production to meet work schedules and maximise resources.Set and manage engineering work schedules; drive continuous improvement across the department; provide hands-on technical support to Shift Engineers and coach/develop skills.Manage staff performance, including absence, disciplinary matters, and grievances; supervise contractors on site to ensure health and safety standards and technical integrity.Involve in repair and project work; ensure parts and resources are in place to complete tasks within agreed timeframes.Manage projects end-to-end, oversee contractors, and run weekend shutdowns.Participate in daily engineering and production meetings; share updates, gather information, and address issues.Support the Hygiene team to achieve site pest control standards and ensure adherence to food safety policies and procedures.Regularly audit completed work to confirm it meets required standards; contribute to Health and Safety plan development and maintain accurate records and audits.deputise for the Engineering Manager in their absence and carry out other duties as required.Qualifications
Recognised engineering qualification.Problem-solving skills.Ability to motivate and encourage others as well as self.Experience with CMMS to allocate PPMs and work orders; ensure work orders are completed on schedule with detailed records.Excellent communication skills.Seniorities and Employment
