Engineering Planner / QA Lead 

Our client is a precision engineering company, designing and manufacturing parts and equipment for the Aerospace and Motorsport industries. In line with continued growth we are now seeking to appoint a suitably experienced person for the above post.   

The successful applicant will liaise with the Directors concerning departmental matters and be capable of senior level problem solving within an engineering environment.

Essential Skills

Full understanding of engineering drawings down to the smallest details of materials/treatments/assembly/geometric tolerances

Good communication skills

Past experience working in CNC machine shop environment / fabrication environment

Apprentice trained or higher

Experience within aerospace industry

Expectation of the role:

To contract review orders within our MRP system

  • Review the order production notes and ensure that our company can meet the requirements
  • Review drawings attached to purchase order to ensure that our company can meet the requirements
  • Ensure that all documentation is complete and conformation sign off is complete on our MRP system
  • Communicate issues to our customers
  • Advise our programming team of any customer tooling requirement at ensure that order within a time manner
  • Using our MRP system plan all routings/BOMS and unsure works orders are ready for the manufacturing in a timely manner
  • Maintaining an engineering on-hold log and communicating this to the necessary personal.

Writing component programmes using Trumpf laser software. Also responsible for maintaining programmes and communicating with the offline programming team to ensure minimal errors and optimisation of tooling and machinery.

The post holder will lead from the front, identifying training requirements and help build skills within the team through clear guidance, encouragement and embracing a continual improvement environment.

Strong communication skills will assist team members understand codes within programmes and how these affect the programmes on laser and press machinery. 

The post will also involve prototyping and prove outs of first-off prior to optimising for batch production runs and involve strong client interaction to develop long term professional relations.       

Other responsibilities include the optimisation of machinery and people, ensuring targets are both realistic and adhered to within agreed budgets. Directing the loading plan and maintaining a strong governance over scheduling and work flow are also features of the post.   

Applicants should be confident and experienced in the use of  Trumpf software and be confident in working on prototype products. Strong communication skills are also essential as is the ability to supervise and manage others effectively.
