What you''ll be doing Leading and scaling a team of 14-20 engineers, acting as both player and coach Hiring, mentoring, and retaining top engineering talent, building collaborative, full-stack delivery teams Driving technical direction across architecture, engineering practices, and DevOps with a focus on pragmatism and simplicity Partnering with product and exec teams to deliver against roadmap outcomes while maintaining engineering excellence Embedding agile and lean principles to improve velocity, quality, and adaptability Providing continuous feedback through regular 1:1s and coaching, supporting engineers to grow their careers Removing blockers, streamlining CI/CD and automation practices, and fostering operational excellence with strong monitoring and alerting Encouraging a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement What they''re looking for 5+ years in software engineering management, with at least 1 year leading teams of 5+ engineers Strong technical background with object-oriented programming (Java, C#, or C++) Experience building and supporting productive engineering teams, including mentoring new managers Deep understanding of agile methodologies (Lean, Kanban) and modern DevOps practices Track record of delivering complex software products in fast-moving environments Excellent communicator, able to collaborate across teams and levels of the organisation Comfortable navigating ambiguity, experimenting, and finding pragmatic solutions Strong leadership ethos - transparent, collaborative, and people-centric What''s on offer Salary £90k-£100k depending on experience Fully remote working across the UK and Ireland Opportunity to shape and scale high-performing engineering teams in a global fintech Collaborative culture with strong focus on innovation, impact, and career development Apply here or reach out to Aaron Somers at Ocho for more information via LinkedIn.
