We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop the Company’s engineering and product management functions. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially minded, technically strong professional who can shape product strategy, drive innovation, ensure regulatory compliance and improve product quality across the business.

Working collaboratively with Sales, Operations, Quality, Procurement and customers, you will take ownership of the product lifecycle, from new product development and technical approvals through to supplier performance, product standardisation and ongoing portfolio optimisation.

You will play a key role in driving a zero-defect culture, improving margins and ensuring the business maintains a competitive, compliant and commercially successful product portfolio

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the Company’s engineering and product strategy, covering approvals, inspection and support.
  • Lead, coach and performance-manage the Engineering team.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, competitor products and market trends to identify opportunities for innovation and product development.
  • Provide regular updates to the leadership team on technical risks, project progress, performance and strategic priorities.

Product Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all products meet relevant regulatory, legal, safety and environmental requirements across applicable markets.
  • Establish and monitor technical and product management KPIs, including quality, defects, approvals, cost savings and project delivery.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action programmes following significant product or supplier failures, supporting the Group’s zero-defect strategy.
  • Maintain robust product range controls, specifications, commodity codes, drawings and technical records.
  • Protect intellectual property and ensure the confidentiality and integrity of technical information, including product and channel certifications.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new product development, working closely with Sales, Operations, Quality, Procurement and customers.
  • Drive value engineering, product standardisation and cost optimisation without compromising quality or performance.
  • Lead market pricing and margin analysis, assessing input costs against output prices to support informed commercial decision-making.
  • Support the development of commercially competitive products that meet customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Lead technical due diligence, risk assessments and supplier capability reviews.
  • Support supplier audits and drive improvements in quality, consistency and technical capability.
  • Establish and maintain business continuity plans for critical products, suppliers, tooling and technical data.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and supply chain risks to protect business continuity and customer satisfaction.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Build a high-performing technical and product function through effective leadership, coaching and performance management.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve collaboration, streamline processes and deliver measurable business improvements.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, product quality and commercial awareness.
  • Significant experience in technical leadership, product management, product engineering or a similar senior product-focused role.
  • Experience developing and delivering product and technical strategies within a multi-product business.
  • A strong understanding of product compliance, regulatory approvals, quality management and technical documentation.
  • Proven experience leading and developing technical, engineering or product management teams.
  • A track record of driving product quality improvements, root-cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
  • Commercial awareness, including product costing, pricing, margin analysis and value engineering.
  • Experience managing suppliers, conducting technical assessments and improving supplier performance.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with ERP systems, product data and technical records.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders across functions and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • A structured, data-driven approach to problem-solving, decision-making and continuous improvement.

Experience operating at Group level or across multiple markets would be advantageous, as would experience with new product development frameworks and product certification processes.
